Too many young people get trapped in the vicious cycle of homelessness. Once they are provided with housing benefit and a roof over their head, they are limited by the hours they can work, and face losing their benefit and being made homeless again. This makes it almost impossible for a person to make that transition into finding stable employment, a career and a move into independent living.
Equal Footings aims to break that cycle – and we’re starting in Brighton and Hove.
The city has one of the highest proportions of homelessness in the UK, with about 150 people currently homeless – around 40 of whom are between 16 and 21
